Chagai, Balochistan – In a major border security development, local authorities verified that 179 Afghan nationals were recently arrested in the Chagai district.

These people were discovered in the isolated Nokundi and Taftan regions after they had entered Pakistan by way of hidden and less-traveled routes.

A number of these travelers do not have the required legal documents, which underscores the desperate nature of people when they are uncertain about anything in their countries of origin.

Just last week, a heartbreaking traffic accident in the Nokundi area claimed the lives of 11 Afghans and left nine others with serious injuries.

These individuals were often packed into vehicles traveling at high speeds to avoid detection, a common but dangerous reality for those navigating the rugged borderlands.

Local security forces reported that the 179 arrests were due to intelligence-driven actions meant to control the movement of illegal immigrants.

As the government continues its efforts to monitor the frontier, the community is left to reflect on the balance between national safety and the protection of vulnerable lives.
