Youm-i-Tashakur Observed To Honor Armed Forces of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Friday – Pakistan observed Youm-i-Tashakur to honour the armed forces of Pakistan and citizens for their victory in Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, part of Marka-i-Haq, against India. Radio Pakistan reported that the day began with prayers and gun salutes in major cities.

The main ceremony was held at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended as chief guest. The chairman joint chiefs of staff committee and the army chief were also present.

PM Shehbaz praised the armed forces of Pakistan for their decisive response to Indian aggression. He called it a “golden chapter” in military history. He appreciated Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, and Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf.

India blamed Pakistan for the Pahalgam attack. On May 6-7, India launched air strikes that caused civilian casualties. Both sides exchanged missile attacks for several days. U.S. intervention ended the escalation. Military officials resumed talks on Monday.

In Karachi, Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah hoisted the national flag. He announced compensation for the families of seven martyrs, including six PAF personnel. Punjab IG Usman Anwar led tributes in Lahore and ensured security for events.

Rescue 1122 officials in Peshawar observed a minute of silence. They held a walk to honor martyrs. Citizens, officials, and the military paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives.
