On June 16, the Head of State of Kazakhstan decreed the appointment of Ambassador-at-Large Erkin Tukumov to the important role of special representative for Afghanistan. Previously, Tukumov served as the director of the Kazakhstan Institute of Strategic Research under the President until his recent relief from that position.
