Islamabad –Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti today announced that security forces have successfully killed two terrorists, including a high-value target, as an advocate in a recent intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Chagai district.
This operation, undertaken yesterday, was the climax of a months-long surveillance operation and the thwarting of several terrorist plans.
In a press conference held in Islamabad, CM Bugti named one of those who were killed as a terrorist as Zubair Ahmed, alias Shahjee, a lawyer whom the intelligence agencies had been monitoring for three or four months.
Context of Operation
The operation began when security forces, acting on credible information, surrounded Zubair’s home.
According to Bugti, the forces used a loudspeaker to call for surrender but were met with immediate fire. This led to a fierce exchange that lasted for one to two hours, in which one FC personnel member was injured. Jahanzeb has recorded a video statement.
The Chief Minister elaborated on the role of Zubair in this network and indicated that he was a facilitator. Bugti claimed that Zubair was in charge of tracking the mining and mineral project movements in Chagai, closely checking the operations of the Chinese people in the area, and providing logistic assistance to the attacks on the FC headquarters.
He also aided in the attack of BLA on May 8, 2025, in Dalbandin, which targeted two officials of the Pakistan Air Force. This incident, in which one official was from Talaghan and the other from Rawalpindi, led to the intelligence that ultimately identified Zubair as a suspect.
Stern Warning and Commitment to Peace
Bugti issued a strong warning, stating that “terrorists who target unarmed citizens will not be given any concession.”
He reaffirmed this as he clarified that the government is determined to defend its citizens and to deal strictly with those who pose threats to peace.
He praised the security forces on their operation, which was effective and intelligence-based, and he said that they were able to thwart multiple plans of the terrorists.
The Chief Minister also referred to a foiled attempt at terrorism in August when a professor was arrested. He was stated to be orchestrating attacks across Balochistan on Independence Day, 14th August.
Bugti finished his press conference by sending his good wishes to the injured security official and saying that the government would continue to keep peace in Balochistan.
He observed that the extremist groups are also making active attempts to corrupt young people, but the government will not stop its activities aimed at stabilizing the situation in the region and establishing peace in the province.
