MARDAN, PAKISTAN – In a high-stakes intelligence-based operation late Tuesday night, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) successfully neutralized two motorcycle-riding terrorists in Mardan. The assailants reportedly opened fire on police during a checkpoint inspection, narrowly missing officers, before the CTD SWAT team retaliated and killed both suspects.
Authorities have identified the deceased as Nauman alias Murad alias Ghaznavi and Suhail alias Charsi, who were allegedly involved in a string of high-profile attacks, including the killings of Head Constable Amjad, Constable Iqrar Syed, and a minor, Ehtesham. They were also reportedly behind a hand grenade attack at the Bharoch checkpost.
Fitna-e-Khawarij Links Confirmed
CTD sources confirmed that the slain terrorists were affiliated with the extremist group Fitna-e-Khawarij, raising concerns about regional security and the continuing threat of militant networks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Authorities recovered a motorcycle, a pistol, and ammunition from the site of the encounter.

The CTD emphasized that intelligence-driven operations across the region remain ongoing under directives from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Additional IGP CTD. Officials stated that these operations aim to dismantle terrorist networks and ensure the safety of local communities.
