PESHAWAR_ The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has taken a major step to establish service points across the province for the registration of illegal Afghan nationals. The initiative aims to collect authentic data and ensure a transparent and organized registration process for Afghan refugees.
According to an official statement, service points will be set up in all divisions and districts, with staff deployed to oversee operations. Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners have been directed to ensure accurate data entry at all registration centers. Special desks will also be established to provide public guidance and maintain security arrangements.
Biometric Verification and Data Sharing
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), Home Department, and relevant agencies have been instructed to implement biometric verification and create a joint mechanism for data sharing and record updates. Separate counters will be arranged for women, children, and the elderly, while district administrations will provide waiting areas and basic facilities.
Field officers have been warned against harassment or unnecessary delays during the registration process. A helpline and complaint cell will also be established to address grievances. Daily, weekly, and final progress reports will be submitted at the provincial review meetings.
Community Outreach and Voluntary Repatriation
In Nowshera, Assistant Commissioner Jahangir Anis Rahman met residents of Afghan refugee camps in Akorra and Khairabad, informing them about the government policy and encouraging voluntary repatriation within three days.
Officials say the registration initiative is part of KP’s transparent and structured strategy for managing illegal Afghan residents. The program is expected not only to provide provincial authorities with verified information but also to safeguard the rights and welfare of Afghan refugees.
