Pakistan_ Pakistan has expressed firm support for China following a recent controversy involving an Indian woman who said she was stopped for hours during transit in Shanghai.

The issue first drew attention after China reiterated that Zangnan (Arunachal Pradesh) is its territory, rejecting India’s claim to the region. Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has now issued its own response, aligning with Beijing’s posture.

China Repeats Claim over Zangnan (Arunachal Pradesh)

During a press briefing on November 25, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning responded to a question about the Indian passenger’s experience. She said China does not accept India’s claims over the region of Zangnan (Arunachal Pradesh).

Mao Ning stated, “Zangnan is China’s territory. The Chinese side has never recognized the so-called ‘Arunachal Pradesh’ illegally set up by India.”

She also rejected suggestions that the woman had been detained, saying Chinese authorities acted lawfully. “The law enforcement was impartial and non-abusive… there was no so-called ‘detaining’ or ‘harassing,’” she said. Furthermore, the airline provided the passenger with rest facilities and meals.

Pakistan Reiterates Support for China’s Sovereignty

In response to media questions, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a clear statement backing China’s position. Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said:

“We have taken note of the remarks made by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Pakistan reiterates its consistent support for China on matters concerning its sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

The statement signals Pakistan’s alignment with Beijing’s territorial claims, including China’s longstanding position on Zangnan (Arunachal Pradesh).

The issue has added to existing tensions between India and China, while Pakistan’s comments underline its diplomatic closeness to Beijing. For Pakistan, the latest development reaffirms its policy of supporting China on core strategic issues, especially those involving questions of sovereignty and disputed borders.
