New Delhi, India – The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two senior Indian Army officials.

This high-profile corruption case involves a husband-and-wife duo, both holding senior ranks, who are now facing serious allegations of financial irregularities.

The officers named in the probe are Lieutenant Colonel Deepak Kumar Sharma and his wife, Colonel Kajal Bali.

Lt. Col. Sharma was the Deputy Planning Officer for International Cooperation and Exports in the Department of Defence Production at the time of arrest.

His wife, Colonel Kajal Bali, was the Commanding Officer of 16 Infantry Division Ordnance Unit at Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan.

Details of the Investigation

The case assumed a theatrical turn when the CBI apprehended Lt Col Sharma accepting a 3-lakh bribe offered by a defense firm based in Bengaluru.

After the first seizure, the agency undertook massive raids on his premises, which led to the outrageous discovery of Rs 2.23 crore in unaccounted cash.

Such financial seizures in any corruption case cast disturbing questions on the magnitude of the malpractice.

As the legal proceedings begin, the focus will remain on uncovering the full network involved and ensuring that justice is served fairly and transparently.
