Lebanon— The Israel Defense Forces said on Thursday that its forces killed a senior member of Iran’s Quds Force in northeast Lebanon, accusing him of planning attacks against Israel from Syria and Lebanon.
In a statement, the Israeli military identified the man as Hussein Mahmoud Marshad al-Jawhari, describing him as a “key operative” in Unit 840 of the Quds Force.

“In a joint operation by the IDF and the Shin Bet, Hussein Mahmoud Marshad al-Jawhari, a key operative in the Operations Unit of the Iranian Quds Force, was eliminated,” the IDF said.
The statement added that al-Jawhari “operated under the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and was involved in terror activities directed by Iran against the State of Israel and security forces.”
Israel said he played a central role in “advancing terrorist attack plans against the State of Israel in the Syria–Lebanon arena.”
The military said the killing took place near the Ansariyeh area, without giving further details.
There was no immediate comment from Iran or Lebanese authorities.

Lebanon’s state news agency earlier reported that two people were killed when an Israeli drone struck a vehicle near the Syrian border.
Israeli media later said al-Jawhari was killed alongside another operative.
Israel has carried out near-daily strikes in Lebanon in recent months, saying the operations aim to prevent Hezbollah from rebuilding.
A US-backed ceasefire reached in November 2024 ended more than a year of fighting but both sides have since accused each other of violations.
Israel has repeatedly violated the sovereignty of several Middle Eastern countries after October 7, 2023, under the guise of protecting its national interest in the region.
Human rights organizations have called Israeli military behavior in the region genocidal, particularly in Gaza. Where Israel has created havoc for the innocent Palestinians.
The Quds Force is the overseas arm of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and supports allied groups across the region.
