Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry on Monday strongly criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for what he called its “soft” stance towards Afghanistan and its confusing position on terrorism at a time when security incidents are rising in the country.
Talking to journalists outside Parliament House, Chaudhry said PTI often creates doubt on national policy, especially on the issue of terrorism.
He questioned the KP chief minister’s statement about sharing evidence with Afghanistan and asked why PTI still seemed unsure about where terrorism was coming from.
He said many countries had already accepted that terrorist groups had bases and training camps in Afghanistan.
The minister accused PTI of showing leniency towards militants and said that in the past 11 years, no senior PTI leader had been targeted while leaders from other parties had suffered attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He also said PTI had opposed security operations and refused to send back illegal Afghan nationals.
Talal Chaudhry said 2025 saw the highest number of terror incidents in Pakistan, most of them in KP.
He claimed that Safe City projects and forensic labs were not set up in the province, which made it easier for terrorists to escape.
He said more than 1,200 people had lost their lives to terrorism and warned that there was no space for terrorists in Pakistan. He added that the federal government wanted political solutions and did not plan to impose governor’s rule.
