The Islamic State’s Khorasan Province (ISKP), the Afghanistan-based affiliate of the Islamic State group, was referenced in new coverage released by the group’s weekly publication Al-Naba following a suicide attack on a Chinese restaurant in Kabul.
In its report, Al-Naba claimed that the restaurant had opened only a few months prior to the attack. However, this claim appears inaccurate, as publicly available footage shows the venue was already operating by December 2024.
The publication also released a clearer photograph of the alleged suicide bomber involved in the attack. No further operational details were provided.
The attack targeted a location frequented by Chinese nationals, highlighting continued security threats posed by ISKP to foreign-linked sites in Afghanistan.
