Kabul -The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) issued a statement on X today, condemning the Taliban’s recently published criminal code as a complementary version of the notorious and oppressive “Ministry of Virtue and Vice” law, labeling it a form of state-sanctioned slavery.
In the statement, the AFF said that this move by the Taliban blatantly violates human dignity, directly contradicts the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and breaches fundamental principles of international law.
The Front emphasized that the Taliban’s systematic violations of human rights in Afghanistan are not accidental, but rather the result of a planned, codified, and official policy, which they strongly condemn.
The AFF called on the United Nations and the International Criminal Court (ICC) to hold the drafters and implementers of this repressive code accountable for committing crimes against humanity.
According to the criminal code, the Taliban have criminalized dancing, recognized slavery, and granted judicial immunity to certain “criminals”, actions that have sparked strong domestic and international reactions.
