Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council and head of the National Message of Peace Committee, Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, has strongly condemned the suicide attack on an imambargah in Islamabad’s Tarlai area declaring that Pakistan will never bow before forces hostile to Islam and the country.

Leading a high-level delegation of the National Message of Peace Committee, Ashrafi visited the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where he met victims injured in the blast. The delegation included religious scholars from all schools of thought.

They inquired about the condition of the wounded, spoke with doctors, and expressed satisfaction over the medical care being provided. The visiting scholars reaffirmed their resolve that the entire nation stands united against terrorism.

The delegation later visited Tarlai to offer condolences to the families of those martyred in the attack. Clerics and religious leaders prayed for the departed souls and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families, assuring them that the nation shares their grief and pain.

Speaking to the media, Ashrafi said all elements opposed to Islam and Pakistan stand exposed and united resistance against them is essential.

He warned that while Pakistan desires peace, it will not compromise on its security. He added that if Pakistan can defeat a much larger adversary, no one should underestimate its resolve or capacity.

In a video message, Ashrafi termed the attack a brutal crime against Islam, humanity, and the sanctity of places of worship.

He stressed that such acts have no connection with Islamic teachings, recalling that even revered Islamic leaders in history were targeted in places of worship by extremists.

He reiterated that the Pakistan Ulema Council, the National Message of Peace Committee and scholars from all sects unanimously reject terrorism in all forms. He prayed for the martyrs, the swift recovery of the injured and patience for affected families, emphasizing that national unity against extremism is stronger than ever.
