Turkey has offered its full cooperation to help ease tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan amid growing regional concerns.The offer was made during a telephone call between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to an official statement from Ankara.

During the conversation, both leaders discussed bilateral relations, the wider regional situation, and recent tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. President Erdoğan highlighted Turkey’s ongoing efforts to support peace and stability in the region.

Importantly, President Erdoğan noted that Turkey is working to reinforce the ceasefire that was earlier achieved through diplomatic efforts. He stressed that easing tensions between the two neighbouring countries is vital to prevent the situation from getting worse. He also reaffirmed Turkey’s willingness to continue diplomatic and political engagement to help maintain calm.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed Turkey’s constructive role and appreciated its continued interest in regional peace. The two leaders agreed that dialogue and cooperation remain the best path forward for lasting stability.

In addition to security matters, the call also covered Pakistan-Turkey strategic ties. Both sides discussed economic cooperation and defense relations, reflecting the close partnership between the two countries. They agreed to stay in regular contact and coordinate closely on regional developments.

In recent weeks, border incidents between Pakistan and Afghanistan have raised concerns about renewed instability. As a result, efforts to uphold and strengthen the ceasefire have gained momentum.
