A report by the British broadcaster BBC Dari has claimed that Pakistani forces have taken control of a border area in Afghanistan’s Paktika province during recent clashes.
According to the report, satellite imagery analysis shows that fencing has been erected over about 1.5 kilometers in the area, suggesting that it may now be under Pakistan’s control. The area is believed to be part of Terwai district, which borders Pakistan’s Zhob district, specifically Qamar Din Karez tehsil.
However, Afghan authorities have rejected the claim. Deputy commander of Afghan forces, Haji Mali Khan, visited the area and stated that it remains under Afghanistan’s control and that no such development has taken place.
According to analysts, such claims may also be part of an information war in a sensitive border situation, and determining the ground reality requires official positions from both countries as well as independent verification.
