ISLAMABAD- APRIL,3 – The federal government has announced that public transport services in Islamabad will be made completely free for one month, in a move aimed at providing relief to daily commuters.

Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi said the government will cover all operational costs of the initiative, describing it as part of efforts aligned with the Prime Minister’s directives to ease financial pressure on the public.

According to officials, the decision is designed to support students, working-class families, and daily wage earners who depend on buses and other public transport systems in the federal capital.

Authorities say the initiative is intended to offer immediate economic relief amid rising living costs, while also encouraging greater use of public transport in the city.

The program will remain in effect for one month, during which the government will fully subsidize fares across Islamabad’s public transport network.
