Islamabad: Opposition leaders have expressed solidarity with the government and armed forces over Pakistan’s role in the Iran–US ceasefire, calling it a national achievement.
Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, said, “Only a fool would not be happy with this success,” adding that all differences should be set aside in the current situation to support the government.
He stated, “Our differences remain, but at this moment, we stand with Pakistan,” announcing unconditional support for the government and raising slogans of “Long live Pakistan, Long live the Pakistan Army.”
Achakzai emphasized that all political leadership should sit together on one platform to make decisions to tackle the country’s challenges. He also stressed the need for dialogue with the PTI founder, saying political harmony is essential in the national interest.
Meanwhile, addressing the Senate, Awami National Party President Aimal Wali Khan also praised the government’s role, calling it a “historic day” for Pakistan.
He congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, stating that Pakistan has sent a message to the world that conflicts are resolved through dialogue, not war.
He added that Pakistan stands for peace, love, and brotherhood, and must continue on this path for lasting stability.
Political analysts believe that such support from the opposition reflects a reduction in political divisions on key national issues and shows Pakistan presenting a united stance at the global level.
