A formal statement has been issued by Iranian Parliament Speaker and head of the Iranian delegation, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, following the talks with the United States in Islamabad. He said that the United States has understood Iran’s logic and principles, but has failed to build trust.

In a message shared on social media, Qalibaf thanked Pakistan for its hospitality and efforts to facilitate the negotiation process. He said Iran participated in the talks with goodwill and seriousness, but past experiences have prevented full trust in the opposing side.

He added that during the negotiations, the Iranian delegation proposed several practical steps for the future, but the American approach was not conducive to building confidence. According to him, the decision now lies with the United States on whether it will take serious steps to gain Iran’s trust.

Qalibaf stated that Iran remains firm on its national sovereignty and principled position, and it considers diplomacy along with other means important for protecting the rights of the Iranian people. He clarified that for Iran, negotiations are a matter of strategy, not weakness.

He further said that Iran is a nation of 90 million people, and under the leadership of the Supreme Leader, the country has strongly faced recent challenges. He praised the people who came out in support and said efforts will continue to strengthen the achievements of the 40-day national defense period.

According to analysts, Qalibaf’s statement reflects that Iran is willing to continue the negotiation process, but any potential agreement is conditional on trust-building and principled equality. Pakistan’s role as host has emerged as an important diplomatic bridge in the entire process.
