British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its constructive role in reducing tensions and promoting stability in the Middle East, highlighting Islamabad’s diplomatic engagement during a sensitive period.

Speaking in the House of Commons while responding to a parliamentary question, the UK Prime Minister said that Pakistan’s diplomacy holds significant importance in efforts to maintain global peace, particularly amid the evolving situation in the Middle East.

Starmer informed the House that he held a detailed conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif last Friday. During the discussion, he inquired how the United Kingdom could further support the diplomatic process and contribute to achieving positive outcomes through negotiations. He stressed that backing dialogue is essential in preventing further deterioration of the situation.

Recognition of Pakistan’s Leadership

Earlier, UK Member of Parliament Afzal Khan also praised the joint efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Army Chief General Asim Munir in working towards de-escalation in the Middle East.

He noted that Pakistan’s initiatives for peace are being recognized internationally and that the world acknowledges Islamabad’s constructive diplomatic engagement during a critical phase.
