Tensions between Iran and the United States remain high even as diplomatic efforts continue. Iran has confirmed that it has received new proposals from the United States through Pakistan’s mediation. These proposals are currently under review and no official response has been given yet. Iranian officials say they are carefully studying the terms before making any decision.
Meanwhile, Iranian leaders say that although some progress has been made in talks, a major gap still exists between the two sides. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, speaker of Iran’s parliament, said that discussions with the US have moved forward slightly but serious differences remain. He also criticized US restrictions in the region and warned that Iran will respond if its interests are threatened.
Washington Holds High Level Security Meeting as Situation Tense
At the same time, the situation in Washington has also become active. US President Donald Trump held a high level meeting in the Situation Room with top officials including the vice president, secretary of state, defense chief and intelligence leadership. The meeting focused on Iran talks, security in the Strait of Hormuz, and the future of the ceasefire agreement.
According to US media reports, Iran and regional developments were discussed in detail. Officials also reviewed diplomatic channels and possible outcomes if negotiations fail to move forward. The meeting comes as the current ceasefire period nears its end, raising concerns about renewed tensions.
Furthermore, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister said that a new round of talks will only be possible if both sides agree on a shared framework. He added that US demands are still difficult to accept and do not fully match Iran’s expectations.
In addition, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council confirmed that it has received new proposals from the United States through Pakistan’s mediation. The council said the proposals are under review and Iran will respond only after careful consideration. It also stressed that Iran will not compromise on its national interests.
At the same time, Iranian military officials warned that any new conflict could escalate into a wider regional crisis. They stated that Iran is fully prepared to defend itself if necessary.
Overall, while diplomatic efforts continue and some progress has been made, major differences remain between Iran and the United States. The coming days are likely to play a key role in deciding whether tensions ease or rise again in the region.
