Pakistan is set to host its first-ever EU Pakistan Business Forum in Islamabad, reflecting growing international confidence in its economic direction and rising strategic importance. The two-day high-level event will be held on April 28 and 29, 2026, and will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Background and Purpose

The historic forum represents the continuation of more than six decades of strong diplomatic and economic relations between Pakistan and the European Union. Supported by the EU and its member states, the event aims to promote high-level dialogue between business communities, strengthen institutional partnerships, and explore new investment opportunities.

Trade Volume and Market Importance

With a population of over 250 million, Pakistan serves as a key regional market linking South and Central Asia to global trade routes. The European Union is currently Pakistan’s second-largest trading partner and its largest export destination, with a trade volume of €11.87 billion and a 15.3% share.

Investment Framework

The forum will launch the EU Pakistan Business Network, marking an important step toward long-term economic cooperation. Structured B2B and B2G platforms will showcase Pakistan as an open and investment-friendly destination with growing economic stability.

Reform Validation

The participation of high-level European delegations is seen as recognition of Pakistan’s reform-oriented economic policies and improving investment climate. The partnership is expected to help diversify EU supply chains, while enabling Pakistan to gain access to advanced technology, foreign investment, and industrial growth opportunities.
