In a significant policy statement issued from Kabul, the Hazara Community Policy Center has formally recognized the Durand Line as the permanent and internationally accepted border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The center said that this position is based on historical records and international legal principles that cannot be ignored.
According to the statement, agreements related to the Durand Line were signed during the time of former Afghan rulers and later accepted under international norms. Therefore, the center argued, denying this reality only creates confusion and deepens political and social crises. Instead of helping national interests, such denial fuels public anger and misinformation.
Moreover, the policy center warned that emotional slogans and selective history have repeatedly harmed Afghanistan. It stressed that long term stability depends on facing facts honestly rather than reshaping history to suit temporary political needs.
Support for Mohaqiq and Warning Against Emotional Politics
Meanwhile, the Hazara Community Policy Center strongly supported recent remarks by senior Afghan leader Mohammad Mohaqiq, also known as Ustad Mohaqiq. The center described his stance on the Durand Line as brave and truthful, especially given the sensitivity of the issue.
At the same time, it sharply criticized groups that reacted angrily to Mohaqiq’s statement. The center said that responding with emotion instead of reason only damages public debate. It emphasized that speaking historical truth should not be labeled as propaganda or betrayal.
Furthermore, the statement pointed out that hiding facts and promoting unrealistic narratives have played a major role in Afghanistan’s long standing instability. The center also referred to current conditions in the country, criticizing what it called discriminatory and oppressive policies that continue to increase public suffering.
In conclusion, the Hazara Community Policy Center urged scholars, intellectuals, and community leaders to rise above bias and emotion. It called on them to guide the public with wisdom, honesty, and awareness. According to the center, only a rational and fact based approach can protect public interests and help the region move toward peace and stability.
