During rising tensions along the Pak-Afghan border, Pakistani security forces have achieved a major strategic gain opposite the Zhob sector, taking full control of a 32-square-kilometre area known as the “Gudwana Enclave” inside Afghanistan.
According to ISPR, fresh footage shows Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC) Balochistan North, Major General Muhammad Aatif Mujtaba, visiting the area.
Sources say the operation was carried out in response to unprovoked firing and infiltration attempts by Afghan Taliban (TTA) forces on Pakistani border posts. During a limited strategic action, Pakistani forces reportedly crossed the border and took control of key positions, including the “Tahir Post,” forcing Taliban fighters to retreat.
The footage circulating on social media shows the senior military official inspecting security arrangements in the captured area and boosting troop morale.
Defence analysts say the loss of the 32 sq km territory is a major setback for the Kabul administration, especially as Afghanistan had previously denied any developments in the area.
Reports further state that Pakistani forces have begun fencing the region and establishing new security posts to prevent future cross-border infiltration. The development is being seen as part of Pakistan’s zero-tolerance policy against cross-border terrorism.
No official response has yet been issued by Kabul regarding the reported territorial loss.
