Islamabad — A dangerous new trend of terrorism has emerged in Pakistan, where militant groups referred to as “Khwarij” are reportedly using drone technology to target civilian populations, including women and children, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Prominent religious scholar Tahir Ashrafi has strongly condemned these attacks, describing them as a grave crime against humanity. He stated, in light of the Holy Quran, that the unjust killing of an innocent believer carries severe consequences and is strictly prohibited in Islam. He emphasized that such actions distort the true teachings of the religion by shedding the blood of innocent Muslims under a false ideological cover.
Alarming Terrorism Figures Reported
According to recent reports, between April 28, 2025, and April 8, 2026, a total of 444 drone attacks were carried out in various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by militant groups referred to as “Fitna al-Khawarij” and “Fitna al-Hindustan.” These attacks reportedly resulted in the martyrdom of 478 individuals, including security personnel and civilians. The primary objective, according to officials, is to spread fear and undermine public trust in the state.
Alleged Foreign Support and Cross-Border Links
Investigations and available evidence reportedly suggest that these groups receive financial and logistical support from India’s intelligence agency RAW, along with access to advanced weaponry. Statements attributed to militant commander Abdul Hamid Khorasani are cited as evidence of cross-border operations allegedly conducted from Afghan territory against Pakistan. Security sources also claim that civilians along border regions such as Chaman and Angoor Adda have been deliberately targeted to escalate tensions.
Military Response Under Operation Gharz-e-Haq
Pakistan’s armed forces have launched a counter-operation named “Operation Gharz-e-Haq” in response to these threats. Under this operation, militant strongholds across areas from Chaman sector to South Waziristan have been targeted. Security officials claim that several drone units and training facilities have been destroyed, significantly weakening militant networks.

Pakistan’s leadership and armed forces have reiterated their commitment to eliminating militant groups responsible for attacks on civilians and security forces. Officials state that the campaign is not only a military operation but also a struggle for national survival and dignity. They emphasize that regardless of the technology used by hostile elements, the state remains determined to protect its citizens and ensure accountability for the killing of innocent lives.
