ARNOS VALE — Australia Women delivered a dominant performance to defeat West Indies Women by 40 runs in a rain-affected third T20I, completing a clean sweep of the series at Arnos Vale Ground.
The match was headlined by a fantastic century from Georgia Voll, whose aggressive batting set the tone for Australia’s commanding total. After being put in to bat by West Indies Women captain Hayley Matthews, Australia Women piled up an imposing 211 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
Voll led the charge with a remarkable 101 off just 53 balls, smashing nine fours and six sixes. Her innings anchored Australia’s batting effort and earned her the Player of the Match award. She was supported by captain Sophie Molineux, who added 25 runs, and Nicola Carey, who remained unbeaten on 24. The pair also shared a valuable late partnership that boosted the total in the final overs.
For West Indies Women, Matthews stood out with the ball, claiming three wickets for 29 runs, while Jahzara Claxton picked up two wickets. Zaida James and Deandra Dottin contributed with one wicket each.
Chasing a daunting target of 212, West Indies Women struggled early, losing three wickets for just 33 runs during the powerplay. Matthews and Dottin attempted to stabilise the innings with a cautious partnership, taking the score to 61/3 at the halfway stage.
However, rain interrupted play after 10 overs, and despite efforts to resume the match, no further action was possible. Under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, West Indies Women were deemed 40 runs short, handing Australia Women a comfortable victory.
The result not only secured the win but also completed a comprehensive series sweep for Australia Women, underlining their dominance throughout the contest.
