Bara, Khyber – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur went to meet protesting families and people of Bara today in a direct response to the tragic incident in Tirah valley.

The Chief Minister offered his condolences to the victims of the “Akakhel tragedy” at the residence of Malik Zahir Shah Afridi of the Akakhel tribe, calling the incident “regrettable.”

During that meeting, the Chief Minister once again condemned the people who had termed the civilian martyrs as terrorists. He declared that the families of the victims will receive compensation of Rs. 10 million, which was promised before.

In an attempt to build a culture of dialogue and to solve the concerns of the community, Gandapur encouraged the local elders to constitute a committee that would discuss with the military authorities.

A huge number of protesters, as well as such officials as Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah, Commissioner Peshawar, Provincial Minister Sohail Afridi, and MNA Iqbal Afridi, attended the meeting. Representatives of political parties such as the President of the Bara Political Alliance, Hashim Khan, and former MPA Shafiq Afridi were also in attendance.

On the suggestion of the Chief Minister, a committee has been constituted by the Bara Political Alliance and other local leaders, which has already left Peshawar to have a meeting with the Inspector General of Frontier Corps (IGFC).
