South Waziristan – A strict curfew in the Upper and Lower parts of South Waziristan has been imposed by the district administration, in effect from Thursday, August 28, 2025.
The pre-emptive step of the curfew between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. is taken to restore law and order and to enhance the overall security situation in the region. The administration has urged the people to cooperate by saying that such actions will help in maintaining stability.
As was reported in the official notification, any type of movement will be prohibited during the curfew time. Local markets and bazaars will be closed. Entry restrictions will be strictly imposed, especially in Barmal tehsil and Shekai tehsil, which are considered the core areas of interest in security operations.
The people and tourists have been encouraged to obey the orders to prevent any conflicts with the security agencies.
Affected Routes and Travel Advisories
Some of the major routes in the district will be affected by the curfew since entry and travel will be strictly forbidden. The affected routes in Lower South Waziristan are: Wana-Tiyarza Gate-Krab Kot-Tanai-Azizabad Chowk to Dargai Pul and Shekai-Anzar China to Wana.
In South Waziristan Upper, the ban on movement will extend to the following routes: Spinkai Raghzai to Nazar Khel, Asman Munza-Kanigram, Sherongi, Spin Jamat to Toravam, Dargai Pul, Madi Jan, Shin Warsak, Mula Khan Sarai to Chagmalai, and Sarwakai-Mula Khan Sarai to Burund.
The administration has sent a special travel warning to the passengers and has advised against any travel between the areas of Dera Ismail Khan and Tank to Upper South Waziristan during the given curfew.
Emergency Procedures and Security Measures
Though overall movement is forbidden, the district administration has ensured that people are provided with emergency. Traveling on those roads will then be allowed only under a prior authorization of the police or the security forces in such cases.
Citizens have to provide their identity cards and other documents to the government to ensure they are checked.
The notification also requires a special protocol to be observed by drivers in order to guarantee the safety of the population and security personnel. Any vehicle will be obliged to stop after noticing a vehicle belonging to the security force at a safe distance of 100 meters.
This is aimed at reducing any form of risk and simplifying the traffic flow of official vehicles at the time of the curfew. The move by the district administration is an indication of a serious interest in solving the security problems in the area and the security of its citizens.
