Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab – In a decisive counter-terrorism operation near the border village of Jotur, Punjab’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) successfully foiled a major terrorist plot, neutralizing four highly dangerous militants affiliated with the extremist group Fitna-ul-Khawarij. The militants had reportedly completed plans to attack police stations and other critical installations in the area.
According to a CTD spokesperson, intelligence had indicated the presence of around 15 armed militants near Jotur, preparing for coordinated attacks on law enforcement and public facilities. Acting on this information, CTD teams launched an intelligence-driven operation to intercept the threat.
During the operation, the militants opened fire on CTD personnel, prompting a swift and targeted response. The ensuing exchange of gunfire resulted in the deaths of four terrorists, while 11 others managed to flee under cover of darkness. Security forces recovered rifles, ammunition, explosives, and other materials from the militant hideouts. Identification of the deceased is currently underway, while search operations continue to track and apprehend the remaining fugitives.
“The CTD remains fully committed to its mission of ensuring a safe and secure Punjab,” the spokesperson said. “We are determined to uproot the menace of terrorism and prevent attacks that threaten the lives of our citizens and the integrity of our institutions.”
The operation highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-based policing in preempting terror attacks and underscores the persistent threat posed by extremist networks along border areas. Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as security forces continue to monitor the region.
