Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and ex-media adviser to Imran Khan, Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan, has made a startling revelation, claiming that during the inauguration of the Kartarpur Corridor, a gold lotta (water vessel) gifted to the then Prime Minister was secretly swapped with a brass one, which was then gold-plated and deposited in the Toshakhana, while the actual gold vessel was allegedly kept by Imran Khan.
In an interview, Chohan said, you may have heard of large-scale corruption cases before, but in January or February 2019, during the Kartarpur Corridor inauguration, attended by retired General Qamar Javed Bajwa and then Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Sikh community presented a gold lotta to Imran Khan as a gift.
Without directly naming Imran Khan or his wife Bushra Bibi, Chohan described them as highly deceitful, greedy, and covetous individuals. He alleged that the gold lotta was replaced in Rawalpindi’s Sarafa Bazaar with a brass one, which was then coated with gold plating before being formally recorded in the Toshakhana. According to Chohan, the original solid gold vessel was kept by Imran Khan. This is the level of corruption we are talking about, he remarked.
Chohan further claimed that Imran Khan once received a dinner set, including cups and saucers, from Malaysia, which he later sold in Rawalpindi’s Raja Bazaar. And yet he goes around saying he has seen the world, that he knows fame, respect, dignity, wealth, everything. This man is greedy and a lotta thief. Today, before the entire world, I give him the title of lotta thief. Unfortunately, this is the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, a lotta thief. Yes, the vessel was gold, but the fact remains, he is a thief of it, Chohan said.
He went on to say that whether it is August 14 or September 6, Imran Khan’s focus is not on Pakistan’s dignity, prosperity, integrity, independence, or future, but solely on securing his own release from custody. The rest can go to ruin, Chohan said, adding that Khan’s plans for August 14 would end in humiliation.
It is worth noting that Chohan was appointed Imran Khan’s media adviser in 2022.
On the other hand, Mahinder Pal Singh, the Sikh spokesperson for the Kartarpur Corridor at the time, categorically denied Chohan’s claims, saying, God’s curse is upon liars. We never gave any such vessel to Imran Khan.
