ISLAMABAD: A Supreme Court explosion in the building’s basement canteen on Monday left at least two people injured, according to initial reports. Rescue officials confirmed that the injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The blast reportedly originated from an air conditioning gas plant located in the basement, causing tremors throughout the Supreme Court premises and sparking panic among staff, lawyers, and visitors present at the scene.

Immediate Response and Relief Operations

Emergency teams, including firefighters, rescue personnel, and security staff, quickly arrived at the site to manage the situation. The area was cordoned off to assess damages and prevent further risk. Eyewitnesses reported that the explosion was loud enough to be heard across nearby areas, while smoke briefly filled parts of the basement. Initial reports suggested up to four injuries, but authorities later confirmed that two individuals were affected.

Investigation Underway

Authorities indicated that a detailed technical inspection will determine the exact cause of the Supreme Court explosion. Preliminary indications suggest that a gas leak in the air conditioning unit may have triggered the blast. Officials from the Islamabad administration and police have launched an inquiry to evaluate safety protocols and ensure no further risks to the building or its occupants.
