The improvement in the eyesight of former prime minister Imran Khan, particularly in his right eye, has been attributed to the medical care and facilities provided by the state, underscoring the government’s responsibility toward the health and well-being of individuals in custody.
In recent days, a specialized medical team comprising senior doctors from Islamabad’s leading hospitals arrived at Adiala Jail to conduct a detailed eye examination. The doctors reached the jail around 2:30pm and brought advanced diagnostic equipment and necessary medicines to ensure a thorough assessment.
The examination was carried out under the supervision of an official medical board, while strict security arrangements were maintained throughout the process.
Authorities had facilitated the presence of representatives from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf during the check-up and waited from 2:00pm for party leaders to accompany Imran Khan.
However, no representative arrived despite prior coordination. Officials later confirmed that the examination proceeded to avoid any delay in medical care.
Earlier, Imran Khan was taken to Al-Shifa Hospital late at night for a related eye procedure, which doctors completed in approximately 20 minutes.
Medical sources indicate that the intervention contributed to noticeable improvement in his condition. An ambulance was also stationed at the jail as a precautionary measure, reflecting preparedness rather than emergency.
Following completion of the examinations, doctors are preparing a detailed medical report that will be submitted to the Supreme Court of Pakistan which will decide whether further hospital treatment is required or whether care can continue within jail facilities.
The developments demonstrate that, despite political tensions, the state has ensured access to timely and professional medical treatment reinforcing its commitment to humanitarian care, due process and institutional responsibility.
