TEHRAN: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has rejected US President Donald Trump’s offer for renewed nuclear negotiations, calling it an act of coercion rather than genuine diplomacy.

According to Iranian state media, Khamenei said that discussions held under pressure and threats cannot be called negotiations but rather “imposed talks.” He added that the United States seeks to use sanctions and intimidation to force Iran into making concessions.

Khamenei criticized Trump’s claim that the US had destroyed Iran’s nuclear facilities, responding sarcastically that “he should keep dreaming.” He emphasized that Iran will not back down from its uranium enrichment program, declaring that the country’s scientific and technological progress is a matter of national sovereignty.

The Supreme Leader stated that any agreement reached under pressure or preconditions is not a deal but a “double game” that undermines Iran’s independence. He reiterated that Tehran remains committed to advancing its nuclear program within the framework of international law.

In a related announcement, Iranian authorities said that an individual accused of spying for Israel has been sentenced to death. The accused was allegedly involved in leaking information about sensitive facilities to Israeli intelligence agencies.

Political observers in Tehran note that Khamenei’s remarks effectively rule out any near-term resumption of nuclear talks with Washington. The statement highlights Iran’s continued defiance amid ongoing tensions over its nuclear program and Western sanctions.
