‏The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has released the latest data on the return of illegal foreign residents, including Afghan nationals. The Provincial Foreign Security Cell under the Department of Interior and Tribal Affairs issued updated figures as of 5 January 2026.

‏According to the official report, by 8:30 pm on 5 January, 1,742 PoR, 376 ACC, and 562 illegal foreign nationals returned home through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s border points. In total, 219,248 PoR, 69,912 ACC, and 682,978 illegal residents have returned to Afghanistan via Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

‏Torkham Border Leads Afghan Nationals’ Returns

The report shows that most returns occurred through the Torkham border, with 673,832 illegal residents returning so far. Limited movements were recorded at the Angoor Adda, Kharlachi, and Sust (China) borders.

‏Data from other provinces indicates that Islamabad, Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and Sindh have also deported illegal foreign nationals through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In total, 38,974 individuals from other provinces were returned, mostly illegal residents.

‏Transit points and detention centers in Peshawar, Lundi Kotal, and Kohat continue deportations. Since 5 April 2025, 7,977 individuals have transited through these centers, with 2,241 staying overnight.

‏Voluntary Returns and Forced Deportations Ongoing

The summary report states that today’s voluntary returns included 1,741 PoR, 375 ACC, and 415 illegal residents, while thousands more have been sent back via forced deportations.

‏The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Interior confirms that these operations continue under federal government directives. All relevant agencies have submitted reports to the Ministry of Interior and the Chief Minister’s office in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
