The Directorate of Youth Affairs KPK published the monthly performance report for June 2025 and described significant progress in three key youth-focused initiatives involving the Ehsaas Nojawan Program, introducing Jawan Markaz, and the Youth Development Package. The report highlights the continuing effort of the provincial government in promoting skill development and empowering the youth of KPK, both in the settled and merged districts of the province.
The Ehsaas Nojawan Program, which will be a major initiative to support the employment and entrepreneurial prospects of young people, is demonstrating incredible interest-free loan disbursement rates in the fiscal year 2024-25. The program is implemented by means of two major implementing partners, the Bank of Khyber and Akhuwat Foundation.
Within the framework of the large-scale interest-free loans program facilitated by the Bank of Khyber, an allocation of Rs 500 million was designated for the fiscal year. The directorate received a total of 12,739 applications for these loans. After a strict process of scrutiny, 191 applications are approved, collectively amounting to Rs 524 million. Out of this approved amount, a significant sum of Rs 401 million has already been released to deserving applicants, demonstrating practical impact on youth entrepreneurship.
The Akhuwat foundation had been entrusted with the small-scale loan scheme, which is provided a budget of Rs600 million, and the target is to disburse 4,427 loans throughout the financial year. By the end of the month June, there were a staggering 5,931 applications registered in the program. Out of them, 3585 loans were granted, and so far, Rs 602.65 million have been successfully disbursed. In addition, the report also showed a strong recovery of Rs42.88 million of beneficiaries within the same time, which shows the viable and good management of the loan schemes.
In addition to financial aid, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, with the assistance of the Directorate of Youth Affairs, is also moving well and far in terms of instituting Jawan Markaz (Youth Centres) in different districts. The centres are conceptualized as resource centres with a dynamic structure that will ensure that youth have easy access to the crucial training, best mentorship, and, more importantly, a proper networking platform, all in the same ideal location. This project is to make places accessible to young people where they can develop their abilities and opportunities.
The Youth Development Package is another flagship program that is being instrumental in providing young people with market-relevant skills and the technical training they require as well as exposure to modern economic opportunities. This program has developed a strategic approach that targets the mainstream and merged districts, thus creating inclusive development and capacity-building in the whole province. The focus on these diverse areas testifies to the determination of the government to promote equal development and the empowerment of every layer of the youth population.
The June 2025 progress report of the Directorate of Youth Affairs not only documents the substantial financial expenditures and infrastructural work, but it also documents the efforts of the government in empowering the youth of KPK. It is the joint work of Ehsaas Nojawan Program, Jawan Markaz, and the Youth Development Package that is laying a strong foundation for the future and will bring forth a generation of competent, financially independent, as well as civically active, young people. As the report has pointed out, these initiatives are not mere numbers; they are about life-changing and creating a resilient future for the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
