Four terrorists were killed on Friday after they attempted a major attack on the battalion headquarters of security forces in the Boya area of North Waziristan, according to security sources.

The attackers belonged to Fitna-al-Khawarij, the term used by the state for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Terrorists target Boya battalion HQ with suicide blast

Officials said the assault began early morning when a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the outer wall of the Boya fort. Which caused a powerful blast that was heard as far as Miranshah, nearly 25 kilometers away.

Within minutes, four to five armed terrorists tried to storm the fort but security personnel responded swiftly killing three on the spot.

Sources confirmed that another terrorist was later encircled and a clearance operation was launched.

Only the outer wall of the battalion headquarters suffered partial damage due to the explosion.

Area secured but district placed on high alert

Soon after the attack, security forces cordoned off the entire area and launched a detailed operation to clear the vicinity. Police, army units, bomb disposal experts and medical staff reached the site to secure evidence and provide assistance.

Authorities temporarily suspended traffic on a key highway as a precaution while security across North Waziristan was placed on high alert.

This is the second major attack in the region in two months. In a similar incident earlier, security forces foiled a suicide assault on a military camp in Mir Ali.

The latest attack comes amid a surge in terrorism nationwide. Pakistan was recently ranked second on the Global Terrorism Index 2025 with terror-related deaths rising by 45 percent compared to last year.
