NRF fighters claim attack on Taliban patrol vehicles in Kunduz city on December 9, 2026

The National Resistance Front (NRF) of Afghanistan said on Friday it carried out a targeted operation against Taliban patrol vehicles in the northern city of Kunduz, killing three Taliban members and wounding four others.

In a statement, the NRF said the operation took place at around 6:50pm near Chawk, opposite the Sarai of Haji Nazakmir, in an area that falls under the Taliban’s first security district in Kunduz city.

The group said two Taliban military vehicles were also destroyed during the attack.

According to the NRF, its fighters withdrew safely from the area and no casualties were reported among its own forces.

The statement also said that no civilians were harmed in the operation.

The NRF said such operations are aimed at weakening Taliban control and what it described as an illegitimate system imposed on the country.

The group said it would continue what it called “targeted and planned” actions in different parts of Afghanistan.

The National Resistance Front emerged after the Taliban returned to power in August 2021. It is mainly active in parts of northern and northeastern Afghanistan and presents itself as an armed opposition movement seeking political change and what it calls a more inclusive system of governance in the country.
