Arabian Sea—The Pakistan Navy has successfully carried out a Live Weapon Firing (LWF) of the FM-90(N) Extended Range Surface-to-Air Missile in the North Arabian Sea, reaffirming its operational readiness and ability to counter modern aerial threats.
The exercise was conducted as part of routine operational preparedness and training activities aimed at strengthening maritime defence.
According to the official statement issued by the Director General Public Relations (Navy), the missile firing demonstrated the Navy’s capacity to defend critical maritime assets and sea lines of communication in a challenging security environment.
High-precision engagement demonstrates combat readiness
During the firepower demonstration, a Pakistan Navy ship effectively engaged highly maneuverable aerial targets. Which validates the missile system’s accuracy, responsiveness, and integration with onboard combat systems.
The exercise highlighted the Navy’s ability to operate in complex threat scenarios and respond swiftly to evolving challenges at sea.
The DGPR (Navy) stated that “PN reaffirmed its operational readiness through successful live weapon firing of the FM-90(N) ER surface-to-air missile in the North Arabian Sea. PN ship successfully engaged highly maneuverable aerial targets, reaffirming combat capability & warfighting potential.”

Commander Pakistan Fleet, Rear Admiral Abdul Munib, witnessed the firing onboard a Pakistan Navy fleet unit.
He commended the officers and sailors involved for their professionalism, dedication, and high standards of operational competence displayed during the exercise.
Strengthening maritime defence and indigenous capability
The successful missile firing comes in the backdrop of recent advances by the Pakistan Navy in indigenous defence technology.
Earlier, the Inter-Services Public Relations had announced the successful test of a locally developed ship-launched anti-ship ballistic missile equipped with advanced guidance and maneuverability features.
Reiterating the Navy’s core mission, Rear Admiral Abdul Munib emphasized the Pakistan Navy’s “unwavering resolve to ensure the seaward defence of Pakistan and to safeguard national maritime interests under all circumstances.”
As Pakistan’s primary maritime defence force, the Navy continues to protect the country’s coastline, ports, and vital sea routes in the Arabian Sea.
Exercises such as this live missile firing reinforce deterrence, enhance combat preparedness and signal the Pakistan Navy’s readiness to respond effectively to any threat to national maritime security.
