Khyber Pakhtunkhwa_ A Police officer was martyred while five others sustained injuries on Monday after a suicide attacker targeted a Tajori police mobile in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district, according to officials.

Asif Hassan, the spokesperson for the Lakki Marwat district police officer, confirmed that the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber who rammed into the police vehicle. He identified the martyred officer as Head Constable Alauddin and stated that the bomber’s accomplice managed to escape. A search operation has been launched in the surrounding areas.

The injured officials were identified as ASI Haq Nawaz, Constable Yar Muhammad, Elite Force Constable Kamal Ahmad, Elite Force Constable Naeemullah, and Duty Foot Constable Nasrullah.

KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi condemned the attack, asserting that the sacrifices of police personnel would “not go in vain.” He added that the provincial government stands firmly with the police and that maintaining law and order remains a top priority.

Pakistan has witnessed a continued rise in militant attacks in KP and Baluchistan since the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended its ceasefire with Islamabad in 2022, vowing to target security forces and law enforcement officials.

Just last week, three police personnel were martyred in a terrorist attack on a check post in KP’s Hangu district.
