SWABI — Two militants were killed during an exchange of fire with police in the Topi City Police Station limits on Monday, officials confirmed.

District Police Officer (DPO) Ziauddin Ahmed said police acted on intelligence reports indicating the presence of militants in Kotha village who were allegedly planning acts of sabotage in the area. A police team was immediately dispatched, but as soon as the officers approached the hideout, the suspects opened fire.

Police retaliated swiftly and effectively, killing both men on the spot.

According to officials, the recovered items included a hand grenade, two pistols, and a 125cc motorcycle used by the militants. The deceased were identified as Yasir, son of Sher Aman, and Saud ur Rahman, son of Bakht Sultan. Both belonged to Pubini village in the Gadoon Amazai hill belt and were described as active members of the “Khawarij network.”

District police spokesperson Liaqat Khan said the duo had been involved in a recent grenade attack on the Kalabat police post, in which Constable Noor Kamal Shah sustained critical injuries and later passed away.

Following the encounter, police launched a search operation in the surrounding area to locate any accomplices or additional threats.
