Islamabad – Pakistan has strongly condemned Israel’s unprecedented strike on Qatari territory that targeted senior Hamas figures in Doha, describing it as a “reckless” and “highly provocative” act that violates international law and undermines regional stability.

The rare attack, which took place in Qatar’s capital on Monday, has sent shockwaves across the Middle East. Doha has been a key mediator in ceasefire talks between Hamas and Israel over the ongoing Gaza war, and analysts warn the strike could derail fragile negotiations.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office Statement

In an official statement released in Islamabad, the Foreign Office said: “Pakistan condemns in the strongest possible terms the Israeli aggression against the brotherly country of Qatar. This highly provocative and reckless action constitutes a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty as well as international law, the UN Charter, and the established norms governing interstate relations.”

The statement added that “Pakistan expresses its complete solidarity with the brotherly State of Qatar against this unprovoked and unlawful aggression.”

The Foreign Office went on to warn that Israel’s action was “yet another manifestation of its continued disregard for international peace and security, and its policy of destabilising the region.”

Reaffirming Islamabad’s stance, the statement said: “We reaffirm our principled position in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Qatar, and call upon the international community to hold Israel accountable.” It further stressed that Pakistan “will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the brotherly people and the leadership of Qatar in defence of their national sovereignty and security.”

PM Shehbaz Sharif’s Reaction

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also weighed in with a strongly worded post on X. He described the Israeli action as “a brazen violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Qatar” and warned it was “a most dangerous provocation that could imperil regional peace and stability.”

He further expressed solidarity with Qatar’s leadership and people, saying Pakistan stood firmly with them “at this difficult time.”

Ishaq Dar’s Response

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar issued two statements on the social media platform X condemning the Israeli strike. In his first post, he said Pakistan “categorically denounces the reprehensible Israeli attack on Doha” and warned that “targeting civilians and sovereign territory is an indefensible act of aggression.”

In a follow-up post, he reinforced Pakistan’s stance, describing the assault as a “reckless and provocative action” and a “blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and international law.” Pakistan stands in complete solidarity with Qatar at this critical juncture, he added. Dar urged that “the international community must act to hold Israel accountable,”  urging that the matter be taken up urgently at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

Regional and Global Implications

The Israeli strike on Qatari soil marks the first known direct attack of its kind, escalating tensions in a region already grappling with the fallout of the Gaza conflict. Qatar, which has hosted indirect talks between Israel and Hamas, now finds itself directly embroiled in the conflict.

International reactions have begun to emerge, with several states expected to weigh in on the violation of Qatar’s sovereignty. Analysts note that Pakistan’s early and emphatic response underscores its alignment with Doha, as well as its broader policy of opposing unilateral Israeli actions in the Middle East.
