A high impact explosion occurred on Tuesday evening outside the Punjab Frontier Headquarters of the Border Security Force in Jalandhar, spreading fear in the area. The blast happened around 8 pm on a busy road. A Honda Activa scooter was completely destroyed, and a nearby traffic signal was badly damaged. As a result, people in the area rushed away in panic.

Soon after the incident, teams from the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, the bomb disposal squad, and forensic experts reached the spot. The area was sealed, and evidence was collected. Speaking to the media, the city’s police chief said early checks did not show signs of sabotage or explosives. However, the investigation is still ongoing.

Investigation Continues as CM Visit Raises Alert

Meanwhile, police officials said the scooter belonged to a delivery worker. He told investigators that he had just delivered an order at the BSF headquarters and was returning when the explosion happened. He also mentioned that the scooter was due for mechanical servicing. Because of this, police are also checking the possibility of a technical fault. A final report will be shared after forensic tests are completed.

At the same time, the incident has raised concern as it happened just a day before the visit of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to Jalandhar. Due to the visit, strict security arrangements were already in place. Following the blast, security agencies have been put on high alert, and checkpoints in the area have been further tightened.
