Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed full confidence that the diplomatic and strategic efforts of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir will pave the way for lasting peace in the region. He said that peace would not only bring prosperity but also help eliminate serious challenges such as unemployment.
Addressing the 6th International Paigham-e-Islam Conference organized by the Pakistan Ulema Council in Islamabad, the Prime Minister said that Islam is a religion of peace and all issues should be resolved through dialogue. He also thanked the leadership of Iran and the United States for attending the conference on Pakistan’s invitation.
Unity of the Muslim Ummah and Role of Scholars
Shehbaz Sharif urged religious scholars to seize the opportunity to promote unity within the Muslim Ummah. He noted that during recent crises, the nation stood united beyond sectarian and religious differences, forming a strong and cohesive front, and said this positive role of Pakistan would continue in the future.
Defense of the Holy Mosques
The Prime Minister stated that the defense of the Haramain Sharifain is a matter of utmost importance for every Pakistani, adding that the defense agreement with Saudi Arabia reflects this commitment. He further said that those who divide the Muslim Ummah or are involved in terrorism do not deserve to be called Muslims.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s stance on Palestine and Kashmir, Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan will continue to support the Kashmiri people until they are granted their right to self-determination.
