Islamabad: A formal and well-attended ceremony was held at Pakistan Monument in Islamabad to mark the first anniversary of Operation Bunyan Marsoos, also called the Battle of Truth. Political and military leaders paid strong tribute to the soldiers and martyrs who, according to officials, defeated the enemy with distinction.

The ceremony opened with the national anthem, followed by a guard of honour presented by the armed forces. A moment of silence was also observed in memory of the martyrs at the request of the Prime Minister.

Our falcons dominated the skies

Addressing the event, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that May 10 will now be observed every year as the “Day of the Battle of Truth” across the country with national enthusiasm.

He described the military operation in strong terms and said the enemy used the Pahalgam incident as a pretext to impose war on Pakistan. However, he stated that Pakistan’s armed forces responded in a decisive way that would be remembered for a long time.

The Prime Minister summarized the conflict by saying, “Our falcons dominated everywhere, and the enemy’s aircraft turned into wreckage.” He also said that India, even after one year, has failed to present any evidence for its claims and was forced to request a ceasefire after starting the escalation.

Tribute to military leadership

The Prime Minister praised the leadership of the armed forces, especially Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. He also appreciated the services of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf.

He said the Pakistan Air Force exposed false enemy claims, while the Navy ensured strong defence of the country’s maritime borders. He added that 240 million citizens stood united with their armed forces like a solid wall.

International support and mediation role

The Prime Minister also thanked international leaders for their diplomatic support, including Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

He further appreciated US President Donald Trump for efforts to help end the conflict. He also confirmed that Pakistan is playing a mediating role between Iran and the United States amid ongoing tensions, and that Iran’s latest response has been received through Pakistan.

National unity and closing remarks

The ceremony concluded with renewed commitment to national unity and security. Leaders reaffirmed support for the armed forces and paid tribute to martyrs.

In his closing remarks, the Prime Minister said Pakistan will continue to raise its voice for oppressed peoples such as those in Palestine and Kashmir. He also said that the fight against militancy and external threats will continue with full resolve.
