BEIJING – APRIL 8- Afghanistan and Pakistan have agreed to work toward a comprehensive resolution of tensions that emerged following a conflict in October last year, according to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The announcement was made during a press briefing by ministry spokesperson Mao Ning, who said the understanding was reached during talks held in Urumqi, China.

Commitment to De-escalation

According to the statement, both Afghanistan and Pakistan have pledged to avoid any actions that could further escalate or complicate the situation. The commitment was made as part of ongoing diplomatic engagements facilitated by China.

Officials emphasized that the discussions focused on promoting stability and encouraging dialogue as the primary path toward resolving outstanding tensions between the two neighboring countries.

China’s Facilitation Role

China stated that it will continue maintaining close relations with both countries and provide a framework to support sustained dialogue and diplomatic engagement.

Beijing reiterated its support for peaceful resolution mechanisms and highlighted its role in encouraging regional cooperation through structured diplomatic channels.

Focus on Regional Stability

Observers note that the agreement reflects a broader effort to reduce friction and stabilize relations following last year’s escalation. The move is seen as part of ongoing regional diplomacy aimed at preventing further conflict and strengthening long-term peace.
