South Waziristan – A crucial trade route that has been closed for 18 months, the Angoor Adda border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan, is about to reopen.
Officials from the local government have confirmed that trade and public travel have resumed, which is anticipated to greatly increase trade and connectivity between the two countries.

Infrastructural Work
Following considerable efforts by Pakistani authorities to improve the infrastructure of the crossing, the decision was made to reopen operations at the South Waziristan border point.
The road to the border has been widened to handle heavy commercial traffic, according to the Frontier Corps (South) wing, which is crucial to the security and development of the area. The work is “almost completed,” according to a Frontier Corps spokesperson who told local media that transportation services should soon resume.

Building a Modern Terminal
The National Logistics Cell (NLC) is working on building a modern terminal at the border crossing in addition to widening the roads. The purpose of this new facility is to increase the overall effectiveness of cross-border trade by streamlining customs procedures and speeding up cargo processing.
A larger plan to develop the Angoor Adda point into a contemporary, well-organized trading hub includes the building of a dedicated terminal.
For locals and families who have been split up by the closure, officials have said that public travel across the border will also be permitted beginning in September.
