Four members of the same family were killed and another civilian was injured after a mortar shell struck a house in the Salarzai area of Bajaur district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The shell was reportedly fired from across the border and landed directly on a residential home.
According to local sources, the victims were identified as Sajid, 28, Ayaz, 25, Riyaz, 22, and Mahaz, 18. All four were sons of a local resident named Tahir. Reports say the explosion was powerful and the brothers died at the scene.
Meanwhile, another civilian named Abbas was injured during the attack. He was quickly moved to a nearby hospital where he is receiving medical treatment.
Residents of the area said the house that was hit was not connected to any fighting. It was simply a family home where relatives were present at the time of the incident. People in the community say the attack has left them shocked and deeply saddened.
Furthermore, locals expressed anger over the loss of four young lives from the same family. Many said such incidents create fear among people living in border areas.
After receiving information about the incident, police teams reached the site and began collecting details. Authorities have started an investigation to determine the circumstances of the attack.
For now, the village remains in mourning as neighbors and relatives gather to support the grieving family. The tragedy has once again highlighted the risks faced by civilians living near the border.
