Armed men attacked and set fire to trucks carrying minerals on the CPEC route near Kalag Cross, Kharan in Balochistan. The drivers were threatened and warned not to transport minerals from the province.

According to local sources, the attackers, allegedly linked to the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), targeted trucks of drivers who refused to pay extortion money, locally known as “bhata.” Several trucks were burnt, causing heavy losses for the drivers and local businesses.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of the CPEC road, which is a key trade and transport route in the region. Drivers and transport companies now fear for their lives and property while carrying goods along this stretch.

Security officials confirmed that investigations are underway, but the remote location and militant presence make it challenging to secure the area. Locals said similar attacks have occurred in the past, highlighting the ongoing risks faced by people working in the mineral transport sector.

These attacks not only harm small business owners but also threaten trade and economic activities in Balochistan. Authorities are urged to take strict measures to ensure the safety of transporters and secure the CPEC route from militant attacks.

The incident serves as a reminder of the challenges in maintaining law and order along key trade corridors in Balochistan and the urgent need for coordinated security measures to protect citizens and commerce.
