Pakistan Navy has officially inducted its first Hangor class submarine, built with China’s cooperation. The commissioning ceremony took place in China and marks an important step in defence cooperation between the two countries.
To begin with, President Asif Ali Zardari attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf was also present. According to official reports, the submarine has now formally joined the Pakistan Navy fleet.
In addition, the leadership described this development as a major milestone in modern naval progress. It also reflects the long standing friendship and strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.
Modern Technology to Secure Sea Routes and Trade Security
Meanwhile, officials highlighted the operational importance of the Hangor class submarines. These submarines are designed to protect key maritime trade routes and ensure security in the Arabian Sea.
Moreover, Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf said that disruption of sea routes can seriously affect global trade and energy supply. He added that these submarines will play a key role in preventing aggression and securing important shipping lanes.
According to ISPR, the Hangor class features advanced air independent propulsion systems, modern sonar technology, and stealth design. These capabilities allow long underwater missions with improved efficiency.
Finally, the President and Chief of Defence Forces congratulated the nation and Pakistan Navy on this achievement, calling it a proud moment for the country.
