BEIJING – China has firmly rejected recent claims made by U.S. President Donald Trump, which suggested that China is allegedly conducting or preparing for new nuclear tests. Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated in a press briefing that China’s nuclear program is strictly peaceful, defensive, and compliant with international norms.
The spokesperson called the U.S. allegations “groundless” and emphasized that China, as a responsible nuclear power, remains committed to global peace and stability. Mao Ning clarified that China’s nuclear capabilities are intended solely for deterrence and defensive purposes, not for aggressive actions.

Mao Ning further highlighted that China adheres to the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) and other international agreements, ensuring that its nuclear activities do not compromise regional or global security.
