BEIJING – APRIL,3 – China has urged Afghanistan and Pakistan to resolve their differences through dialogue, as Beijing continues its diplomatic efforts to ease tensions between the two neighbours.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said during a press briefing that China has been actively facilitating communication between Islamabad and Kabul and will continue to play a constructive role in promoting regional stability and improving bilateral relations.

According to diplomatic observers, China has maintained close engagement with both sides through ongoing consultations and backchannel efforts aimed at preventing further escalation along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border.

Analysts note that while Pakistan has consistently supported dialogue and regional cooperation, concerns have repeatedly emerged over cross-border security challenges and militant elements operating from Afghan territory, which have contributed to rising tensions between the two countries.

China’s involvement is also linked to its strategic interest in regional stability, particularly for major connectivity initiatives such as the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), both of which require a secure and stable regional environment.

The Pakistan–Afghanistan border situation has remained fragile due to security incidents and mutual concerns, prompting renewed calls from regional stakeholders for structured diplomatic engagement and effective control of militant activity.

Beijing reiterated that stability between Pakistan and Afghanistan is essential for regional development and economic integration, and emphasized that constructive cooperation remains the only viable path forward.
